Patriettes Defeat Port Washington

The Garden City Patriettes faced Port Washington this past Saturday. The Patriettes kept pace with this fast, aggressive team, giving their spectators an exciting hour of soccer. Garden City demonstrated excellent team work, moving the ball into the opponent's end which allowed the Patriettes to test the Port Washington goalie. The Patriette defense worked aggressively to protect their end, resulting in a scoreless half. Garden City's pressure in the Port Washington end paid off with two goals in the second half. Port Washington fired back with a goal late in the second half. The Patriette defense rallied to prevent another score, giving Garden City a 2-1 win.

The Patriettes played their second round of the Waldbaums Cup on Sunday against the Floral Park Fusion. A strong defensive effort was given by both sides and the score was 0-0 at the half. Floral Park was able to score on a penalty kick in the second half. The Patriettes tried to generate scoring opportunities but were unable to put one in the Fusion's goal, giving the Garden City a 2-0 loss. The Patriettes are upbeat and looking forward to the upcoming week end of soccer in Windsor.
