Community Church Holds Double Celebration

Reverend Lynn Sullivan and husband, Mark.
On Sunday, September 16, Garden City Community Church celebrated two important occasions. Rally Day, sponsored by the Council of Trustees, signifies opening day of Sunday School and the return to the fall worship service schedule. Also, the congregation surprised Reverend Lynn Sullivan on the10th Anniversary of her ordination. They presented her with a colorful stole inscribed with the words "Let It Shine."

After the service, everyone joined together for lunch and fellowship in the new Playscape, built over the summer by the Community Church Nursery School. A delicious cake was served in celebration of Rev. Lynn.

Earlier in the morning about 150 students were registered in the Sunday School. Ian Rottenberg, Director of Youth and Family Ministries, delivered the children's sermon at the 10:30 worship service.

The combined celebrations were a wonderful way to join in fellowship after the summer and begin a new fall season of worship.

Garden City Community Church is part of the United Church of Christ. Worship services are Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with church school for children and a crib room for infants and toddlers at the later service.
