On Monday, September 17th, Mollie's Fund sponsored their annual golf outing, dinner and live auction. Thirty-eight foursomes competed in both morning and afternoon flights. Over 300 attended the dinner, and participated in the silent and live auctions. Jack Biggane, in his welcome, thanked supporters for their generous contributions. He explained how the education mission of the foundation has grown na-tionally. Guest speaker, Dom Splendorio, President of the Health Section of NY State AHPERD organization, described the distribution of and impact of 55,000 copies of "The Dark Side of the Sun", the educational DVD and corresponding CD Teacher's Guide developed by the foundation for middle schools and high schools. Because of the foundation's initiative, millions of students will learn about the importance of sun protection, the dangers of tanning beds and the importance of mole identification. Dr. Ted Daly, Director of GC Dermatology, shared causes and alarming statistics for melanoma. The audience was able to view "Highlights of OO7", a short film that chronicled the achievements of the foundation during the past year. Mollie's Fund sponsored an educational forum, led by leaders in the melanoma field, for over 250 Long Island pa-tients and their families at the Long Island Marriott this past May. The foundation supplied sunscreen to GC Pool and Parks. Their advertising pre-vention campaign was featured in the GC kiosks and local LIRR stations. Mollie's Fund looks forward to continuing our mission to increase awareness for melanoma prevention, provide information and services on skin cancer detection, and support melanoma patients through education of the latest treatments. The foundation has been selected to be a participant in the Americana Manhasset Champions for Charity Holiday Shopping Benefit, November 29 to December 1.
