Thunder 11 Maroon Continue Unbeaten Streak

Brendan Mc Laughlin rumblin' and ramblin'!
Three weeks into the 2007 campaign and the Thunder 11 Maroon team sits at an impressive 3-0. This past Sunday at Stewart field the tough Long Beach Mariners came to town, only to be turned away with a 12-0 loss.

For those doing the math at home, that's three games, no points allowed. This defense is stingier than a 6th grader on Taco Tuesday. The key to their success is team defense, everyone doing their jobs, pursuing the ball carrier and making the tackle.

Defensive lineman Anthony Preziosi was asked how he prepares for a game, "light calisthenics, some breathing exercises and big plate of frozen waffles." Unique approach. But if it works, stick with it.

The offense got off to a quick start with an 11-play drive to start the game. Dale Stasco continued to pile up the stats, scoring both touchdowns for the Thunder. Dale's second score was an impressive fake field goal reception that had everyone stunned and Thunder fans overjoyed.

Defensive Coordinator Harder had this to say about the play, "even I was fooled on the play, and I knew it was coming!"

Offensive readies for another gainer!
Once again the offensive and defensive lines did their jobs. Plays by Jack Anesner, Joseph Leto and Cullen Minion might not have made the stat sheets, but their stellar play kept Long Beach from scoring.

Fumble recoveries by Mike Keating and Ryan Blair thwarted two Long Beach drives, as well as an interception by Mike Holland.

The squad goes on the road for the next three games. Our first opponent will be the high powered Franklin Square Warriors. We hope to see you there on Sunday.

Go Thunder!
