The GC Thunder traveled to Hempstead this past Saturday to take on the undefeated Hempstead Tigers. The Thunder had a great week of practice and were focused on bringing a "W" back to GC. The game day captains, #24 Darius Iraj, #70 Justin Holloway and #62 Lucas Hildreth won the toss for the Thunder and elected to receive the ball. The Thunder's offensive line #74 Nick "Tank" Gray, #50 Thomas Lane, #70 Justin Holloway, #43 Alex "Fuzz" Ferzola, #35 Joe Williams, #57 Devon McGuinness, #21 Chris "Sticky" Larkin and #58 Alex "Hammer" Wood played an incredible game and were the reason the Thunder were able to score three touchdowns and three extra points paving the way and controlling the line of scrimmage amassing 196 total yards. Outstanding job gentlemen!

The Thunder defense was impressive all day containing an explosive Hempstead team, causing two turnovers and allowing only one score late in the fourth quarter. The defense, #19 Drew Vorkas, #72 Matias Yianatos, #14 George Petropoulos, #85 Connor Nolan, #46 Thomas Mascola, #24 Darius Iraj, #58 Alex Wood, #28 Evan Nagel, #23 Carson Bauer, #61 Bobby Menges and #50 Thomas Lane were eleven playing as one all day.
#34 Matt Thomas, #77 Brian Goepfert, #28 Evan Nagel, #68 Colin DeAngelo, and #80 Conor Muldoon made some tremendous blocks all day allowing each other to advance the Thunder for several first downs, but always thanking the offensive line for their superb blocking.

#61 Bobby Menges led the team with four kick offs one of which was a recovered on-side kick. In addition to his kicking responsibilities Bobby shared defensive responsibilities at Safety, making a touchdown saving tackle! Great job Bobby!
Tim Butler and Lucas Hildreth are on the injured reserve list and hopefully will rejoin the team soon. The Thunder play this Friday night at Community Park Pool versus the Bellmore Braves at 7:30pm. Come out and cheer the Thunder on for a little "Friday Night Lights"!
