All Aboard For The Street Fair/Homecoming Parade

All aboard for the kids' ride down Seventh Street.
Fabulous food, sidewalk sales and exhibits ... two trackless trains for kids up to 12 ... plus loads of kiddies rides & carnival games will all be part of the festivities at the Garden City Chamber of Commerce's 28th annual Fall Festival Street Fair this Saturday, September 29, 9:30 - 3 p.m. on Seventh Street.

Add to these activities the "Garden City Idol" singing contest featuring Garden City residents from 12 to 18 with Kevin Covais of American Idol fame as celebrity judge.

(Stage is between the former Food Basket property and Joseph & Joseph men's' stores). Garden City High School's Homecoming Day Parade will step off at 12:30 p.m. The Chamber's Street Fair is Garden City's only all-community event showcasing Village organizations along with member businesses. Seventh Street will be closed to traffic between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. However, exhibitors may unload materials, leave the street by 9 a.m. and re-park in adjacent Fields.

The Chamber gratefully acknowledges the many Chamber volunteers and recognizes the Albanese Organization, and Verizon, entertainment sponsors; Sovereign Bank and Sperry Federal Credit Union, "Garden City Idol" stage sponsor; and Community National Bank, Denise L. Emma, D.D.S., and Loaves & Fishes, ride sponsors. Special thanks, also to Yona Beno, owner of the former Texaco Station property and the law firm of Walsh Markus McDougal & Debellis LLP for assistance toward the opening a section of the property to accommodate the ever-popular "Moon Bounce." American Idol's Kevin Covais is a "Type One" diabetic, who works diligently on behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Special thanks to Alfred Weissman Real Estate for a donation of $1,000 and the Sikorski Family of Origin Press and Grimaldi's Pizzera for $500 donations toward this organization on behalf of Kevin Covais.
