You can help by dropping off a new or gently used coat, jacket or sweater at the church located at Dartmouth Street in Garden City. The collection closets are open 7 days a week from 7 AM to 2 PM. Enter through the main doors, go to the top of the stairs and the closets are on the left. Put all donations in a bag and label as men, women or children. Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On September 19, the Police Department, Nassau County Probation Department, and County Police Canine Unit at County Seat Drive did a driver's license checkpoint for persons remanded there as a result of court or the probation department required by the MADD Victim Impact Panel. there were 8 arrests; 4 for aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree ( DWI-related) and 4 for aggra-vated unlicensed operation 3rd degree(court or administrative)... also that day, at 6:32 PM, there was a 2-car-accident at Rockaway Avenue, where one driver left the scene and two females received neck/shoulder injuries in the other car. An investigation ensued and the 21-year-old Valley Stream male motorist was arrested for leaving the scene of car accident where there were injuries sustained by other parties... PO Oswald arrested a 24-year-old Locust Valley man for alleged DWI (.10%), starting a vehicle unsafely, unsafe lane change, and allegedly speeding in excess of 80 mph, at Clinton Rd., at 3 AM, on September 22... On September 23, 5:05 AM, Sgt. Pederesen arrested a 30-year-old West Hempstead man for alleged DWI (.08%) after he passed a red light at Franklin Avenue. The man was also charged with no insurance, obstructing the view of his windshield and passing a red light...On September 23, 3:50 PM PO Walsh arrested a 32-year-old Hempstead woman for the larceny of $122 in under-garments and jewelry at Sears...PO K. Wehr observed a motorist allegedly speeding at Franklin Avenue on September 22 at 4:30 AM, and he arrested the 27-year-old male motorist from Miramar Florida with aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree ( 8 suspensions, 5 dates) , speeding and no registra-tion... On September 20, a $350 Garmin GPS was stolen from a 2004 Nissan parked in Field 7N. The passenger side window was also broken at $200 in damage... Between September 22 and 24, a 10-speed Schwinn men's bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage at a Wyatt Rd. residence...
