Patriettes Take Two

Cailee McCarthy moves the ball upfield
The Patriettes U-11 girls' soccer team enjoyed back to back wins this weekend. The Patriettes faced off against Rockville Centre Saturday morning. Garden City's offense had multiple shots on the Rockville Centre goal throughout the first half but was thwarted by skilled goal tending. The score at the half was even at 0-0. The Patriettes came out strong in the second half, pounding the Rockville Centre goal. The speed of the Patriette defenders allowed Garden City to maintain control of the ball throughout. Steady goal tending contributed to the shut out. Garden City won easily with a 4-0 score. The Patriettes maintained their momentum going into Sunday's State Cup Tournament, playing Plainview-Old Bethpage. a strong offensive effort provided many scoring opportunities and a focused defense allowed constant control of the ball, with little pressure on the Patriette goal. Garden City was able to generate a second win, handily beating Plainview-Old Bethpage with an-other 4-0 score. Go Patriettes!!
