GC Firefighters Assist At Blaze In GC South

GC Fire Chiefs John Casey and James Meehan with Franklin Square Fire Chief
During the morning hours of September 13th, Garden City firefighters were alerted to assist the Franklin Square Fire Department with a working house fire located nearby on Nassau Blvd in Garden City South. Garden City firefighters responded with a tower ladder to the scene. Initially called as the Firefighter Assistance Team, Garden City's Bravest were soon put to work with ladder company operations at the scene. Firefighters, under the direction of Fire Chief John Casey and Assistant Chiefs Meehan, Graham and Cavarra, assisted with fire building overhaul and checking for fire extension. The search and overhaul operations were exceptionally difficult because of volume of fire that existed in the home. Garden City firefighters remained on the scene for approximately 1 1/2 hours before being released.
