Andy Cooney's Coming To Town

Get Ready to Sing, Get Ready To Cry!

Get Ready To Shout, I'm Telling You Why...

ANDY COONEY'S COMING TO TOWN!

"Msgr. John's Knights," with a tip of the hat to a revered Santa Claus tune, have alerted St.Anne's parishioners that Irish-American singing favorite Andy Cooney will be back for the third successive year with a bright new version of "A Classic Irish Christmas" in McCloskey Auditorium at 8 P.M. on Friday evening, December 7.

Despite increased costs, tickets will still be offered for $25 each and if ordered before Saturday, Nov. 10 will entitle the purchaser a chance (with each ticket) to win a Grand Prize of $25,000 cash or another cash prize in the Knights of Columbus $50,000 C&B Program. Income from the "Classic Irish Christmas" show will enable the Knights to support the Council's charities including scholarship grants for students attending Catholic high schools.

According to "Jay" Lynch, Event Chairman for the Knights, one of the reasons Andy continues to pack McCloskey is the fact many parishioners know that he got his start here as a teenager in the mid-80's with famed musician and entertainer Paddy Noonan's band. Another is Andy's proven ability to come up with a steady stream of new entertainers who fill each show with fresh, pleasant surprises.

Heading the list this year of "new to St. Anne's" talent to be introduced by Cooney, is George Casey, Ireland's new "King of Blarney." From County Clare, he is a veteran pro on the Irish stage. He has toured with many of America's legendary performers such as Rosemary Clooney and has extensively toured with Bobby Vinton, who later encouraged him to team up with him at Branson, MO.

Another performer, new to the local scene will be Odette Woods whose beautiful soprano voice has captivated listeners while singing grand opera, Irish ballads, folk songs or Christmas carols all over the world.

If you love Irish dancing, you'll appreciate the talent of the Dublin City Dancers who have toured the U.S. extensively and recently appeared on PBS with Daniel O'Donnell.

Per past performances here, "bringing down the house" with cheers will be Andy's fine band of Irish and American master musicians led by Musical Director Brian Moran, from New York.
