Patriettes Face Island Trees

Julia Biscardi strong on defense
The Patriettes U-11 girls' soccer team played their season opener against Island Trees this past Saturday. The Patriettes played strong defense throughout the game against an aggressive Island Trees offfense. The first half was evenly played with steady goal tending on both sides. Just before the halftime mark, Island Trees capitalized on a scoring opportunity, giving them a 1-0 lead going into the second half. The Garden City mid-field and forwards made a focused effort throughout the second half to move the ball up field and put heavy pressure on the Island Trees goalie. Although the Patriettes had a number of scoring chances, they were unable to convert, resulting in a 1-0 score. Better luck next week Patriettes.
