Chamber Fall Festival & Homecoming Parade Is Sept. 29

One of the festive displays from last Chamber Street Fair.
Sidewalk Sales and exhibits ... fabulous food ... kiddie trains ... carnival games and more are all on the schedule for the Chamber's earliest ever Fall Festival Street Fair to be held on Saturday, September 29 from 9:30 - 3:00 p.m. Add to the festivities the first ever "Garden City Idol" Singing Contest with TV's American Idol finalist, Kevin Covais serving as celebrity judge (and yes, Kevin will give us a song or two) ... plus Garden City High School's Homecoming Day Parade, and you have an all-out Garden City Community Day spotlighting both Chamber business members and community organizations.

Festivities will commence at 9:30 a.m. Seventh Street will be closed to traffic and will re-open at 3 p.m. The Parade will step off at 12:30 p.m. Chamber member businesses and community organizations must call the Chamber (516) 746-7724 to secure placement of exhibit booths; or information may be downloaded from the Chamber website: www.gardencitychamber.org. Exhibitors may unload tables, etc. on Seventh Street before 9 a.m., but must than re-park vehicles.

The Chamber Special Events Committee is pleased to recognize Bert Donley, event chairman and MC; The Garden City Public Schools for providing the "Garden City Idol" staging area; and Yona Beno, owner of the former Texaco Station property and the law firm of Walsh Markus McDougal & Debellis LLP for working with the Chamber to open a section of the "Texaco" property to accommodate the ever-popular kiddie Moon Bounce. The Chamber also recognizes event sponsors: Sovereign Bank; Community National Bank and Denise Emma, DDS as well as The Sikorski Family and Origin Press for a major donation to the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation in the name of American Idol celebrity judge Kevin Covais ("Type One" diabetic). For more information, please consult the Chamber website: www.gardencitychamber.org or call (516) 746-7724.
