Guidelines For Submitting Sports Items

With the start of the fall sports season, we would like to take this opportunity to review our guidelines for submitting sports material.

Please help share the available space by limiting photo submissions to five or six per week for ordinary games. (For larger events, such as multi-game tournaments, additional photos are acceptable.)

Please rotate which children are featured in photos.

All photos must have captions, and preferably name the children in the photo. If sending in material by hand, please print or type the names of the children.

Materials can be sent online to editor@gcnews.com or to our office at 821 Franklin Ave., Suite 206, Garden City NY 11530. (Please don't submit duplicates!)

Please submit all parts of the story (photos, captions and story) at the same time. When items come in piecemeal they are more likely to not get printed correctly.

Electronic submissions: photos should be sent as .jpg attachments to email. Digital photos should be at least 175 dpi and 6 inches wide (We can always reduce the size of large files, but we cannot do much with a low resolution photo or one that is tiny.)

If you are sending many photos, please either use copmpression software (such as Zip) or send them in several successive emails. Otherwise, the email may "bounce" and we may not receive it at all.
