Yoga & Pilates For Breast Cancer Patients Personal trainer Lydia L. Jacobs, who is also a breast cancer survivor, teaches yoga and pilates in this free workshop for breast cancer patients and survivors on Wednesday, October 10 from 7 pm to 8 pm at Adelphi University's Alumni House in Garden City. For centuries, yoga, an exercise form that combines alignment of the body, movement and simple poses with coordination of breathing, has been known to increase core strength, reduce fatigue and promote relaxation. Participants will explore their body's abilities according to the limits of their individual strength and flexibility. Lydia J. Jacobs holds eight national certifications: personal training, group fitness, mat flex, step, kickboxing, aqua, senior and youth fitness. She leads the yoga and pilates classes at Lucille Roberts and operates her own personal training practice, Forever Fit. Comfortable shoes and clothing are suggested. This program is open only to breast cancer patients and survivors. It is sponsored by a grant fromThe New York State Department of Health, Community Based Cancer Support Services. Pre-registration is required. Call 516-877-4325. The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program has been helping New Yorkers for over a quarter of a century.
