The u10 Garden City RAIDERS played extremely well in their first ever travel soccer tournament. The team came out well prepared and very disciplined. The boys dominated in game #1 against New Hyde Park winning 4-0 behind four second half goals. Game #2 was possibly the most thrilling game of the tournament. The Raiders trailed North Shore 1-0 for most of the game. As the game wound down the boys began to make a furious last minute push for the game ty-ing goal. With minutes left they managed to tie the score at 1-1; then on the last offensive rush of the game with seconds left they were awarded a penalty kick that they converted just under the cross bar for a game ending 2-1 win. The RAIDERS continued on their hot streak rolling over the East Meadow Tornadoes Sunday morning with another solid victory. In game #4 the Raiders matched up against Hicksville as the teams battled it out for first place. Although the Raiders fell short against Hicksville they played an excellent first half and fought Hicksville to a 0-0 tie before Hicksville pulled away in the second half. But on Monday the Raiders bounced right back with a solid 5-1 win over Rockville Centre giving them second place in their very first event as a team. The Raiders team includes Jack Bingham, Matty Chmil, Daniel Confort, James DeSousa, Jack Fenty, Brian Haeffner, Scott Kiley, Dylan Laderoute, Matthew Lisoski, John Mackey, and Timothy Schmelzinger. GO RAIDERS!!!
