A Word From The Publisher

As the summer winds down to its last couple of weeks many parents are looking forward to the start of school (most children, however, are not!). We've noticed heavy traffic around Roosevelt Field in the last week or so, presumably because many families have started back-to-school shopping.

Many people are surprised to learn that in spite of its postal address, Roosevelt Field does not pay any taxes to either the Garden City School District or to the Village of Garden City. (The office buildings on Ring Road are within the Village and School District.)

Parents who want to avoid all that traffic would do well to remember the local stores in town for all their children's needs, from notebooks to new clothes. Not only can they avoid traffic jams, parents who spend their money here are also indirectly supporting the public schools.

Garden City merchants support the schools - why not support those merchants?
