Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem Between August 8 and 11 , someone took 7 cases of bottled soda and water from a vending machine at Edgemere Park...Between August 7 and 8, burglars took over $1,000 in construction tools from a GC residence under construction... PO Jacobsen stopped a motorist for going excessively slow at 10 PM on Clinton Road, on August 15. The 26-year-old man had a revoked license, no insurance, no registration, no inspection, as well as a stolen license plate( from the Hempstead area)... Also that day , at 10 PM, PO Florio arrested a 47-year-old Floral Park woman for alleged DWI (.24%) after she made a wide turn onto Hilton Avenue. She was also charged with making an improper turn at a red light... Someone broke the driver's side window of a Nissan , which was parked at GC Plaza on August 15, and stole a $700 Garmin GPS system...Between August 1 and 16, unknown persons cut the convertible top of a 2002 Toyota and parked in Field 6E ... A 63-year-old Freeport man, who was using his horn unnecessarily while stopped in traffic at the Marine Base on Stewart Avenue, was subsequently arrested for having an expired license since 1996, and he was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, and unlicensed operation... On August 17 , PO Wedra noticed a car without headlights on, in the area of Brompton Rd., and he stopped the car to find out that the car's 2 occupants, an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old, were in possession of marijuana... PO Hickey arrested a 26-year-old Westbury woman for the failure to signal, unlicensed operation, alleged DWI (.08%), at Kingsbury Rd., on August 19... A $400 GPS was taken from a Hyundai Sonata parked at GC Plaza on August 24... A $600 Magellan GPS was taken from a Nissan parked at the Stewart Avenue RR station on August 21. $100 damage to window... Someone spraypainted the sidewalk, a village sign and a comfort station at Tullamore Park between august 18 and 19... Two Luis Vuitton handbags, 2 leather bags, a SONY laptop and cell phone, were stolen from car parked in the driveway at Roxbury Rd. between August 18 and 19. $2500 in value... Fire Responses: FD answered a call for an odor, which was determined to be the result of central air conditioning in an attic, at Newmarket Rd., on August 15... A female juvenile pulled an alarm box at the Science Building, Adelphi University, on August 15... Firemen shut down a water heater at a Poplar Street house on august 16, and a fan was used to ventilate the basement there...FD used an axe to rescue a woman who was locked in her bathroom at a Stewart Avenue location on August 17... Plastic melted on a light bulb in a stairwell light fixture causing alarm at a Chestnut Street house on August 16... Wires arced at a Kildare Rd. house on August 17... On the same day , firemen went to Stratford School where there was a trash can on fire. Firemen apprehended a male who was seeing fleeing the scene and he was turned over to police... A wood burning kiln at Adelphi University's Fine Arts Building caused an alarm there on August 18. There was no fire...Two sets of golf clubs were found on fire in the rear of the GC Country Club, Stewart Avenue, on August 19. Three males were seen fleeing the scene... An overheated dimmer switch caused alarm at a Claydon Rd. house on August 19... Firemen evacuated water at a Locust Street house on August 20...FD removed a leaking oxygen tank to the outside of an Iris Lane house on August 22... That's all this week. G. T.
