Chamber To Hear Sen. Hannon Reveal Long Island Myths

Are there myths here on Long Island? NY State Senator Kemp Hannon thinks so and will reveal a sampling of "Long Island Myths" to Chamber members and guests at the Garden City Chamber's season kick-off luncheon on Wednesday, September 19, Garden City Hotel at Noon.

A member of the New York State Senate since 1989, Kemp Hannon is Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Health; is the Assistant Majority Whip in the Senate Conference; and is also the chair of the Health Budget Subcommittee. Regarded widely as an expert in health care public policy, Senator Hannon has improved the quality and developed healthcare programs for all New Yorkers.

Demonstrating his commitment to serve the public good, Senator Hannon created landmark legislation with the Patient Health information and Quality Improvement Act. He is responsible for numerous laws recognizing the importance of preventive medicine, medical research and treatment of disease. The senator spearheaded the establishment of the Senate Medicaid Task Force ... co-sponsored the woman's health care and prevention bill ... and improved screening for cancer and osteoporosis. He has headed the health committee of the National Conference of State Legislators and serves on NCSL's Health Policy forum.

Senator Hannon also established key laws in the areas of technology, finance and tax reform. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Task Force on Government Reform. Senator Hannon helped establish the first Empire Zone in Nassau County. A long-time resident of Garden City, Senator Hannon resides in the Village with his wife Bronwyn and their twin daughters.

The Chamber cordially invites both residents and members of the business community to attend this special luncheon. The program will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a reception and showcase of various member businesses. Luncheon is served promptly at 12:30.
