The U14/15 girls of the Centennial Advanced Player Training program (CAPT) headed by Paul LeSueur took on the challenge of playing in the highly competitive Long Island Premier Cup this past weekend. Considering that they have played together only through the summer for two nights a week in between vacations, the girls finished up with a very presentable 2 wins and 2 losses.
Facing some stiff competition on the first day, as well as having to play at 8:00 AM (the girls showed they are not an early morning group), GC got off to a rough start by losing the first two matches on Saturday. Undeterred by the tough losses to some amazing competition, the girls came back on Sunday and showed what they were capable of - two solid wins. Highlighted throughout the matches was the ability of the girls to put into practice some of the principles that CAPT has been reinforcing throughout their workouts - movement without the ball, creating space and shape on the field and building the attack from the back while maintaining ball control.

The CAPT program was put together to provide an opportunity for town players to take their game to the next level - outside of the training regimen of their own club teams. Headed by Paul, the players received excellent training that built upon the foundation that they all have developed with their travel coaches.
