In Memoriam
Lenore Overton Sim passed away on August 11, 2007 at age 91. She was the wife of the late William Henry Craig Sim, mother of Craig Stephen Sim and Judith Sim Sartorius. Grandmother of Brandon Craig William Sim, Stephanie Brooke Sim, John Manfred Sartorius III, Pamela Sim Sartorius and the late Melissa Hopkins Sartorius. A tenth generation descendant of Thomas Terry, a founder of Southampton in 1640, she was also a direct descendant of Nathaniel Sylvester, the first proprietor resident of Shelter Island. A graduate of Miss Sayward's School in Overbrook, Pa., she met Craig Sim, a student at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and they were married in 1937. Mrs. Sim was active for many years in the Community Club of Garden City, serving as Chairman of the Drama Department, a book reviewer and moderator over 20 years of The Literature Department, the Regent of the Col. Ogden Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A long time member of Cherry Valley Club in Garden City and the Lawrence Beach Club. With Mr. Sim, she traveled extensively. She was a devoted member for over 40 years of the National Great Books Foundation. | |||||
