Resident Honored On 100 th Birthday

Hempstead Town Councilman Edward Ambrosino (left, kneeling) presented an official Town of Hempstead Certificate of Recognition to Carmen Lastenia Vera Andrade (seated) of Garden City Park in honor of her 100 th birthday. Born in Chone, Ecuador, on July 22, 1907, the honoree came to New York in 1960. Many years ago, she became a U.S. citizen and has been living with her daughters and son-in-law in Garden City Park since then. She has 11 children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. Also shown are family members Richard, Gloria, Natalia, Yollanda, Vanessa, Tania and Fanny Vera, and John Paul and Jessica Weiss.
