Hemlock Principal Hired

The Garden City Board of Education approved the appointment of Audrey Bellovin as principal of Hemlock School at a special meeting held on August 2nd. Her appointment takes effect on September 4th.

Bellovin was selected to replace Linda Norton, who was named principal of Stewart School in July. Norton replaces Dr. Marie Bracchia, who retired after 22 years.

Bellovin has a B.A. degree in elementary education from Queens College, an M.S. in mathematics leadership and a Principal's Program from the Bank Street College of Education.

She has been an assistant principal at Ogden Elementary School in the Hewlett-Woodmere School District since 2005. Bellovin served at the Herricks School District as mathematics staff developer for the elementary schools from 1999 through 2005 and as an elementary education teacher from 1992 through 1999. She was an elementary education teacher in the New York City public schools from 1989 through 1992.

Bellovin has permanent New York State certification as School District Administrator and in elementary education N-6. She has provisional New York State certification as School Administrator Supervisor.
