Convenient Options For Payment Of General Taxes Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin reminds residents to take advantage of extended hours, satellite offices and the mobile tax office as the August 10 deadline for paying the sec-ond half 2007 general town taxes approaches. As an added convenience to residents, the tax office also accepts credit card payments online or via telephone. "My office offers residents the highest level of service with extended hours of operation and multiple locations to pay their tax bills," said Clavin. "Residents who prefer to pay their tax bills in person may do so at the main office located in Hempstead or at one of our satellite offices or mobile town hall locations." Clavin has extended office hours during peak collection times at the main tax office located at 200 North Franklin Street in Hempstead. Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. "Our fully staffed main office can assist taxpayers with account inquiries and all forms of payment," Clavin said. Satellite offices at Rock Hall Museum (located at 199 Broadway in Lawrence) and Levittown Hall (located at 201 Levittown Parkway in Hicksville) will be open to receive checks and money orders for tax payments from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. "Our mobile town hall brings town government to local neighborhoods," remarked Clavin. "This is especially convenient for residents who have limited time or ability to travel to the main tax office and desire to make their tax payments in person by check or money order." The Mobile Tax Office will visit the following locations from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. as follows: Monday, August 6 Merrick Senior Center 2550 Clubhouse Road, Merrick Tuesday, August 7 Lido Beach Town Park Lido Boulevard, Lido Beach Wednesday, August 8 Town Parking Lot O-3 Davison Avenue, Oceanside (directly across from Oceanside Library) Thursday, August 9 Franklin Square Senior Center 1182 Martha Place, Franklin Square Friday, August 10 Lido Beach Town Park Lido Boule-vard, Lido Beach Residents who would like to pay via credit card may log onto the town's website at www.toh.li and follow links to "Online Tax Payments," or call Official Payments Corporation toll-free at 1-877-306-6056. A 2.5% convenience fee payable to Official Payments Corporation, the company that processes the credit card transaction, will be incurred. Hempstead Town re-ceives no portion of this fee. "From bringing town government to local neighborhoods to supplying residents with beneficial information that can help reduce their tax burden, Supervisor Murray and I are committed to assisting taxpayers in every possible manner," stated Clavin. When making payment in person, residents should bring in the entire tax bill. Tax stubs should not be detached from the bill.
