This Week At Rotary Rotary Inducts Tom Tierney

On June 26, The new Board of the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club was inducted at its weekly meeting at the Garden City Hotel. Tracy Abamont past president, passed the gavel to Tom Tierney, new Club president. Also inducted were the Club's officers and directors.

The Club's luncheon meetings are held each Monday throughout the year (except for holidays) at the Garden City Hotel. at 12:15 p.m. Rotary is the world's largest service organization.

With the theme "service above self," among the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club's projects are: Rotacare which provides for free medical care to indigent Long Islanders; the "Gife of Life," a cardiac surgery program repairing the damaged hearts of children from around the world; the scholarship program which provides college assistance to Garden City and Mineola high school students; the Group Study Exchange Program - fostering international understanding through the exchange of young business and professional teams; the Youth Exchange Program which provides local and foreign high school students with the opportunity to study abroad and learn a new culture; and the Salvation Army holiday Program when Rotarians assist in the collection of monies for the needy. Each year, the Club also recognizes a recipient of its "Community Service Award."
