Kids Care Cleans Up At Car Wash

The energetic group of Cathedral youngsters stays cool while waiting for their first customers.

"Kids Care" - It is all about kids caring for kids. Just give them an opportunity to care and you will be amazed at what our youth can accomplish.

On a beautiful summer Sunday afternoon in August, instead of going to the beach, members of the youth group from the Cathedral of the Incarnation sponsored a car wash event which successfully raised over $360. All of the proceeds will go towards their "Kids Care" project. The goal of this project is to provide backpacks and school supplies for foster children in Nassau County entering first and second grade.

Jacqueline D'Aversa and Jennifer LeSueur, are the founders of the The Kids Care Group. They will now shop the back to school sales for supplies to fill the remaining backpacks, and then deliver them to the foster care agency so that the backpacks can be distributed to the children before their first day of school.

The generosity of the Cathedral community, especially the youth group, is demonstrated when they reach out to others. They are a living model of the gospel message - to love our neighbor.Donations were received from the Cathedral congregation as well as the community at large.

That road tar is sure hard to get off!

The Kids Care group wants to thank all those who took advantage of the car washing services and who contributed school supplies, backpacks and cash donations to enable them to help these young foster children.
