new mini golf course open

Community Park's new mini golf course has met with spectacular success since its opening day in June. Over 1000 people a week have visited our new facility since the summer began and the reviews have been wonderful.

The golf course is now open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. Improvements to the area have created a spectacular course sure to please any mini golf devotee. Rates for the course are as follows:

Residents under 12 or residents aged 65 or older: $3.00

Residents 12 or older: $5.00

Non resident under 12: $4.00

Non resident 12 or older: $6.00

Please note that until construction is finished in the area, monies will be collected at the tennis hut located just north of the tennis facility. You will then be given a ticket to turn in to the attendant at the mini golf area.

summer chess club begins

The Recreation Department will sponsor its summer chess club at the Garden City Library on Tuesday, July 17th from 4 to 6 p.m. in the library's lower level meeting room. Any resident in grades 3 to 8 is invited to attend this free program, which will run until August 21st. Paul Dooher will again moderate this club.

park programs ongoing

Our Park Programs are in full swing and open to children ages 6-14. Our park directors Rich, Kristian, Greg, Anthony, Brad, and Ryan have planned games, field days and trips for residents of the Village to enjoy. We also have "make and take it" Arts and Crafts for ages 6-12 in each park at 10 a.m. Please visit our parks and join in the fun!

amusement park tickets now on sale

The Recreation Department has reserved tickets on consignment for some of the best amusement parks in our area. These tickets can be purchased at any time this summer in the Recreation Office in Village Hall and are good for any time this season. Cash or check will be accepted. here is a list of the tickets we have and their discounted prices:

summer stretch class begins

Our very popular stretch class will be offered from 9:15 to 10:15 every Tuesday nd Thursday starting this Tuesday, July 17th. This is different from what was publiched last week. The cost of this 6 week program will be $48. to register, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall.

summer gazebo concerts

for 2007

The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce their 2007 Summer Gazebo Concerts Series. All Concerts are held on Thursday evenings beginning at 7:15 p.m. at the Gazebo on the corner of Stewart and Hilton Avenues. Please bring a lawn chair and enjoy the evening. In case of bad weather, the concert would be moved into Cluett Hall.

summer roller hockey camp

The Recreation Department is offering a summer Roller Hockey Camp at the Community Park's Roller Hockey Rinks. The camp will be a combination of skill driven activities and pick up games. This camp is open to any village resident between the ages of 5-10.

The week of the camp will be as follows:

Monday, August 13th through Thursday, August 16

Ages 5-8 8:30- 10 a.m.

Ages 9-1010:30 - noon

The cost of the camp will be $60. Please make all checks payable to the "Inc. Village of Garden City." Please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall to register.

summer adult tennis lessons

The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct evening tennis lesson for adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The lessons will be held at the Garden City Community Park tennis facility and will run one evening a week. There will be a maximum of four players on a court. The dates, times, and fees will be as follows:

To register for any of these sessions, please come to the Recreation Office in Village Hall. Payment must accompany your registration form and separate checks will be needed for each session you register for. Our tennis pro will then set up lessons on our courts with people with like abilities. You will be emailed or called with your lesson assignment.
