Appointed To Executive Committee

Brian Ridgway, Clerk for the Village of Garden City, has been appointed to a one-year term on the sixteen member Executive Committee of the New York State Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials. Mayor Ernest Strada of the Village of Westbury, President of the Conference of Mayors, made the selection. Mr. Ridgway will represent NYCOM's affiliate organizations, and is the only member of the committee who is not a mayor.

In announcing the appointment, Mayor Strada stated, "Brian Ridgway has been an active participant in NYCOM programs and I look forward to working with him to establish our statewide agenda. His commitment to quality public service in New York State, in conjunction with his experience with the New York State Association of City and Village Clerks, makes him well qualified for the appointment. He will be a major asset to our organization."

Brian Ridgway has served as Village Clerk in the Village of Garden City since 2000. He also was the Clerk-Treasurer for the Village of Mineola from 1997-2000. Prior to public service, he had a successful career in the private sector, including sixteen years with the IBM Corporation.

Brian is the incoming President of the New York State Association of City and Village Clerks, Past President of the Long Island Village Clerks & Treasurers Association from 2004-2006, and an active member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. He has been a member of the Garden City Fire Department since 1977, including service as Chief of the Department from 1998-99. Brian is a graduate of Adelphi University on Long Island and is currently enrolled in the Municipal Clerks Institute at Cornell University.
