Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem On July 27, PO Walsh arrested a 36-year-old Brentwood man for forcibly touching a Garden City woman, a fellow employee, at a GC business...Over $ 10,000 in building materials were stolen from a yard at a GC residence between July 24 and 25... Two windows and a door were found damaged at a Franklin Avenue business between July 30 and 31. $600 in damage...PO Bandl arrested a 19-year-old GC man for alleged DWI (.12%), and for allegedly passing a red light at Oxford Blvd./Merillon Avenue at 12:53 AM on July 31... PO Matos arrested a 25-year-old Hempstead man for 2 counts of aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree for a prior DWI and for 7 suspensions on 4 dates, at the scene of a property damage accident at Old Country Road on July 24...On July 30, PO Reilly arrested a 20-year-old Mineola woman for allegedly stealing $232 in intimates, mostly Calvin Kein and DKNY, at Lord and Taylor... Police are investigating a report where a man allegedly took off his shoes and put on a $24 pair of sandals leaving the Sears store on July 26...A truck stop was also conducted that day at NHP Road. 9 trucks were inspected with 8 trucks taken out of service, 10 had weight violations, and 65 tickets were issued...A 17-year-old GC female was arrested for the possession of alcohol at Washington Avenue on July 31 at 11:20 PM... Fire Responses: A gas leak occurred at Alumni Hall, South Avenue, Adelphi University, on July 25. A backhoe had evidently severed a gas main that feeds the halls there and Keyspan was notified... Water leaked into a smoke alarm at a Seventh Street location on July 25... FD closed the water supply to a meter at Brompton Rd. on July 28... Smoke in the Hampton Rd. area occurred after lightning struck a tree there causing arcing, on July 29. LIPA was notified...Wires also sparked at a Kilburn Rd. house on July 29.. The owner of a house on Franklin Court East was advised to contact a plumber after a smell of gas was found in the basement there on July 30... That's all this week. G. T. |
