News From The Children's Room

The winner of the Fourth guessing game was Julienne King! She guessed the exact amount of 136 and won the gel bracelets. Congratulations Julienne! Winners of Raffle #3 for grades K-2 were Emily Aprigliano, Robert Baschnager, Ryan Bice, Hannah Dewey, Kaitlyn Driscoll, Ryan Feryo, Patrick Ilardi, Stephen Iovino, Matthew Jordan, Holly Kopke, Emily Miller, Alexandra Minuto, Katherine Mulvihill, Amanda Nastasi, Steven Onos, Addie Overend, Amy Smith, Samantha Wu, Tyler Wuchte and Matthew Flanagan. Winners for grades 3-5 were Emma Basel, Maggie Emmert, Stefan Gerek, Caroline Germano, Alexis Gogh, Maxwell Guarnieri, Timothy Herlihy, Caroline Kaczynski, Kathleen Anne Kalschmid, Emma LaRiviere, Jack McManus, Elizabeth Malaszczyk, Michael Malaszczyk, Julia Matina, Kellyanne Noeberto, Sara O'Brien, Nathan Overend, Elisa Pittella, Tara Skahill and Amanda Volpe. Winners received a pen with disappearing ink and a pad of paper. Congratulations to all!

Registration for the Summer Reading Club continues in the Children's room through August 8th. Flyers with information on all of our summer programs are available in the Children's Room.

Join us for Monday story times on July 30 and August 6 at the following times:

10:00 AM Mother Goose (for children ages 18-29 months with an adult)

11:00 AM Toddlers (for children ages 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 with an adult)

1:30 PM Preschool (for children 3-5)

7:00 PM For children entering Kindergarten and First Grade

No registration is required for the summer storytimes. Tickets will be distributed one-half hour prior to the program. No siblings please!

Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM are Family Nights at the Library! No registration is required to attend Family Night Programs! Join us on August 1 for the family movie, The Great Muppet Caper.

Shirley Ruby, craftmaster extraordinaire, will be here July 31. Children ages 2 1/2 - 5 will create a Sunny Windsock either at 9:30 or 10:30. For Grades K-2, at 1:00 make a Sherlock Pup! For Grades 3-5 at 2:30 PM, it's Sher"look" Holmes! Registration for each of these programs began July 24, so check with the library for availability.

As a reminder, the Children's room will once again be holding book club discussions for the children entering Grades 2-5. These popular programs are 45-minute sessions. Each child should bring a "brown bag" dinner. Desserts and beverages are provided. The schedule is as follows:

The New Friends In A Book Club! For those entering third grade.

July 30 at 5:45PM - How to be Cool in the Third Grade. Registration began July 9.

The Page Turners - for children entering grades 4 and 5:

August 2 at 5:45PM - From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. Registration began July 12.

It's hard to believe how fast the summer goes by! The last day for the summer book club will be August 8th. We will end with two Grand Finales - Strumming & Drumming for the pre-schoolers on Tuesday, August 7th at 11 AM. For the K-5 students, Petra Pup-pets' show "Daffy Detective Squad" will be on August 8th at 7:00 PM. Don't forget these are "Invitation Only events". Each child receives their invitation when they come to the library for their first prize!
