Scouts Honored

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, center, Councilman Gary Hudes, 4th left, Town Clerk Mark Bonilla, left, and Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin, 2nd right, presented official Town of Hempstead Certificates of Recognition to Eagle Scouts Noah Houck of New Hyde Park, Andrew Nanayakkara of Garden City and John Kostopoulos of Huntington Station. The ceremony,, held at the Norman J. Levy Park & Preserve in Merrick, was the 2nd annual Town of Hempstead celebration honoring young men and women who have achieved th highest honor in Girl Scouting and Boy Scouting, the Gold Award and the rank of Eagle Scout. Earning these awards is no small accomplishment; it entails years of hard work and dedication. Besides fulfilling requirements in a number of areas, both the Gold Award recipients and Eagle Scouts must complete a service project that is beneficial to the community. Also present at the ceremony was Executive Director/CEO for Girl Scouts of Nassau County Donna Ceravolo, Past President of Girl Scouts of Nassau County Christine T. Rio, Chief Financial Officer for the Theodore Roosevelt Council BSA Marc Kogan and Eagle Chair for BSA Iroquis and Penquott Districts Family Court Judge Richard Lawrence.
