"There Ought To Be A Law" Contest Winner
Senator Kemp Hannon (R-6th S.D.) recently congratulated Claire Beatty as the winner from Garden City Middle School of Senator Hannon's 2007 "There Ought To Be A Law" contest. The annual program honors the ideas for New York State legislation, as conceived by local students. Beatty's winning entry proposed trees should be at least five feet from a Stop sign. She reasoned, when tree branches cover a stop sign, an average driver would not be able to see the sign and this could cause a serious accident.
