park programs ongoing Our Park Programs are in full swing and open to children ages 6-14. Our park directors Rich, Kristian, Greg, Anthony, Brad, and Ryan have planned games, field days and trips for residents of the Village to enjoy. We also have "make and take it" Arts and Crafts for ages 6-12 in each park at 10 a.m. Please visit our parks and join in the fun!
amusement park tickets now on sale The Recreation Department has reserved tickets on consignment for some of the best amusement parks in our area. These tickets can be purchased at any time this summer in the Recreation Office in Village Hall and are good for any time this season. summer stretch class begins Our very popular stretch class will be offered from 9:15 to 10:15 every Tuesday nd Thursday starting this Tuesday, July 17 th. This is different from what was publiched last week. The cost of this 6 week program will be $48. to register, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall.
Men's basketball begins again The fieldhouse will be open from 7:30-10 p.m. on Wednesday nights for Adult Open Basketball. This is a free program open to any resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City aged 18 and over. Games are strictly pick up and no teams are allowed. This program will continue until Wednesday, August 15th.
summer gazebo concerts for 2007 The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce their 2007 Summer Gazebo Concerts Series. All Concerts are held on Thursday evenings beginning at 7:15 p.m. at the Gazebo on the corner of Stewart and Hilton Avenues. Please bring a lawn chair and enjoy the evening. In case of bad weather, the concert would be moved into Cluett Hall. new mini golf course open Community Park's new mini golf course is now open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. Improvements to the area have created a spectacular course sure to please any mini golf devotee. Rates for the course are as follows: Residents under 12 or residents aged 65 or older: $3.00 Residents 12 or older: $5.00 Non resident under 12: $4.00 Non resident 12 or older: $6.00 Please note that until construction is finished in the area, monies will be collected at the tennis hut located just north of the tennis facility. You will then be given a ticket to turn in to the attendant at the mini golf area.
summer yoga for adults Our summer session of yoga will begin the week of June 4th. Connie McKnight, our certified yoga instructor, has designed classes with all ages in mind. Each 12 week course will cost $60 and each class is 55 minutes long. All classes are held in Cluett Hall at St. Paul's. Any resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City is invited to join these relaxing classes. The course schedule is as follows: Mondays at 7:30 p.m.Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. To register for any of these classes, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall.
preschool camp announced The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting a Pre-School Camp for girls and boys 3.5 to 5 years old who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Children who attend this camp MUST be 3.5 years by the start of the session. This camp will be held at the St. Paul's Cluett Hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost of each session will be $75. Arts and crafts, music, nature, and stories will fill the one and one half hour class. The sessions are as follows: Session I:July 9 thru July 13 Session II:July 16 thru July 20 Session III:July 23 thru July 27 Session IV:July 30 thru August 3 Session V: August 6 thru August 10 Please make selections carefully as fees are not returnable. To register: by mail only, no walk in registrations will be accepted until June 10. We can not be held responsible for delays in the mail. To register, pick up an application at the Recreation Office in Village Hall. You can also make your own by listing your child's name, address, phone number, birth date, grade he/she will be entering in September and the session and classes for which your are registering. Mail all information with full payment to the Garden City Recreation Department at 351 Stewart Avenue. Please make all checks payable to the "Inc. Village of Garden City."
summer soccer camp There are limited openings available in our half day soccer Camp the weeks of July 30 and August 6. Our full day camp is now filled. A child must be six year of age and entering 1 st grade by the time of the camp in order to attend this camp. For further information or to register, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall.
summer baseball camp There are still openings in our summer baseball camp for 9-11 year olds. This camp will take place at Community Park the weeks of July 16 and July 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall for further information.
summer roller hockey camp The Recreation Department is offering a summer Roller Hockey Camp at the Community Park's Roller Hockey Rinks. The camp will be a combination of skill driven activities and pick up games. This camp is open to any village resident between the ages of 5-10. The week of the camp will be as follows: Monday, August 13th through Thursday, August 16 Ages 5-8 8:30- 10 a.m. Ages 9-1010:30 - noon The cost of the camp will be $60. Please make all checks payable to the "Inc. Village of Garden City." Please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall to register.
summer adult tennis lessons The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct evening tennis lesson for adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The lessons will be held at the Garden City Community Park tennis facility and will run one evening a week. There will be a maximum of four players on a court. The dates, times, and fees will be as follows: Session 1Fee April 30-June 11Mon., Tues., Wed., 7:00-8:00 p.m. or (6 weeks) or Thurs. 8:00-9:00 p.m. $120 Session 2 July 9-Aug. 2Mon., Tues., Wed., 7:30-8:30 p.m. or (4 weeks) or Thurs. 8:30-9:30 p.m.$ 80 Session 3 August 6-30Mon., Tues., Wed., 7:30-8:30 p.m. or (4 weeks) or Thurs. 8:30-9:30 p.m.$ 80 To register for any of these sessions, please come to the Recreation Office in Village Hall. Payment must accompany your registration form and separate checks will be needed for each session you register for. Our tennis pro will then set up lessons on our courts with people with like abilities. You will be emailed or called with your lesson assignment.
