News From The Children's Room The winner of the first guessing game was Bethany Noak. Congratulationsand good guessing skills! The correct amount was 223 and her guess was 223. The winner took home all the puzzles that were in the jar.Registration for the Summer Reading Club continues in the Children's room through August 8th. Flyers with information on all of our summer programs are available in the Children's Room. Tickets will be distributed one-half hour prior to the program. No siblings pleaseJuly 10th begins registration for this fun program for preschoolers to be held on July 17: The Mystery of Outer Space and Mystery Project, with Donna Green. This is for Garden City residents ages 2 1/2 through 5 (Not entering Kindergarten). Select one time slot, either 9:30AM or 10:45AM.July 10th begins registration for this fun workshop for residents in Grades K-5 to be held on July 17: Clue Chasers: A Clue and Code Workshop with the Long Island Children's Museum. 1:30 PM for grades K-2; 2:30 PM for grades 3-5.On July 10th, the workshop Insects Out with the Long Island Science Center will be held. This workshop, for residents ages 2 1/2- 5 is being held at 9:30AM and 10:30AM (choose one time slot). The children will receive a "surprise" to bring home with them. Check with a Children's Librarian for availability. On July 10th, The Wizard Workshop will be held. This workshop is for residents in grades K-5. 1:00 PM for grades K-2 and 2:30 PM for grades 3-5. Check with a Children's Librarian for availabilityAs a reminder, the Children's room will once again be holding book club discussions for the children entering Grades 2-5. These popular programs are 45-minute sessions. Depending on the time of day, each child should bring a "brown bag" lunch or dinner. Desserts and beverages are provided. For those entering third grade.July 9 at 5:45PM - The Legend of Spud Murphy.July 30 at 5:45PM - How to be Cool In the Third Grade. Registration begins July 9 at 9:30 AMThe Page Turners - for children entering grades 4 and 5:July 12 at 5:45 PM - Harry Potter Mania! Celebrate the release of the final book and the fifth movie by reading or re-reading one of the others in the series. Registration began on June 18th. August 2 at 5:45PM - From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. Registration begins July 12 at 9:30 AM.Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM are Family Nights at the Library! No registration is required to attend Family Night Programs! July 11th is the first Talent Show! Come and support our local talented kids. Due to the popularity of this show, our second Talent Show will take place the following Wednesday night, July 18th!Performers must register in the Children's Room.Please check the library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
