Final Awards Evensong At Cathedral
The Cathedral of the Incarnation's Choirs celebrated the end of the current season with a special Evensong which honored various individuals for their achievements over the past year.Several new boy and girl choristers were inducted as full members of the Cathedral Choirs, following their initial period as probationers. They are Jack Fishman, Viviana Trikas, Sophia Trikas, Lauren Russo, Mairead Koehler and Tess Siegel.Four graduating seniors were honored for their combined 37 years of service to the Girls' Choir. They are Dana DellaCorte, Cynthia Giersberg, Katrina Montagna and Maria ZieherJack Fishman and Lauren Russo were the recipients of the Dean's Cross, given to a young chorister who shows great potential as a singer. The Gold Cross, an award given since 1947 in memory of a choir girl who died suddenly just prior to entering college, was given to Jennifer LeSueur. Sam Newman and Jennifer LeSueur received awards for excellent attendance. The Leadership Award was given to Katrina Montagna, as a graduating senior who has served as an Organ Scholar at the Cathedral this past year and will continue to do so when she enters college in the fall. Emily Scott, Viviana Trikas and Robbie LeSueur received awards for having had the most improvement over the past year. Emma Siegel and Stephen Tamke received the Musicianship Award. Dana DellaCorte received the Triangle Award, which acknowledges excellence in Christian Behavior as well as excellence in attendance and musicianship.The Right Reverend Frederick Burgess Award is given annually to an adult who has greatly helped the work of the Cathedral Music Program. This award was given this year to the Cathedral's Provost, Father Theodore Bean, who has worked tirelessly on behalf of the choirs The Bishop Burgess Award is given yearly to a chorister between the ages of 13 to 18 who has excelled at all aspects of choir work. The winner of this award this year was Cynthia Giersberg who was also the Lead Girl for the past season.The Robert Ludwig Award, established in 2000, is given annually to one or two choristers who must be seniors in high school for their Christian example, exemplary attendance and commitment, musicianship, leadership ability and who have attended at least three choir camps. The recipient of the Robert Ludwig Award this year was Maria Zieher. In addition, the Choirs recognized the forty seven years of service to the Cathedral and its Men and Boys Choir by Dean Caveney, who is retiring from the choir and moving to Upstate New York.
