GCAA Summer Baseball Registration As our Spring Season draws to a close, it's time to start thinking about GCAA Summer Baseball! In fact, there seems to be so much interest out there in playing more baseball that the GCAA has decided to add two new age divisions to its Summer Baseball Program, giving us a total of five different levels of play: 7 year-olds (new), 8 year-olds, 9/10 year-olds, 11/12 year-olds, and 13-15 year-olds (new). Age is calculated as of April 30, 2007 as per Little League rules. This means, for example, that only children who turned 7 between May 1, 2006 and April 30, 2007 would be eligible to participate in the 7 year-old division. Likewise, if you were 12 years old on April 30, 2007 - even if you are 13 years old today - you would play in the 11/12 year-old division. Except for the 7 year-old division which will play an "in-town" schedule, the GCAA's Summer Baseball Season will include both GC teams and teams from neighboring towns. The season will run for five weeks starting July 16th, with two games per week per team on Monday through Thursday evenings. Team rosters are generally a little bit larger to accommodate players missing some games because of other summer activities such as camps or vacations. As was done in our Spring Season, all teams in the 9/10 and 11/12 year-old divisions will be using wood bats, while metal bats will be permitted in the other age divisions. So, if you want to play some more baseball against neighboring towns in a relaxed, fun atmosphere, we would encourage you to sign up for GCAA Summer Baseball. To register, download the Summer Baseball 2007 application on our web site (www.gc-aa.com) and mail it with your fee payment to GCAA at PO Box 4, Garden City, New York 11530 before June 30, 2007. Seven-year old registrants should use the 8-12 year-old application on the web site.
