Student Receives American Legion Award

Congratulations to Garden City Middle School eighth-grader Robert Heineman, this year's winner of the Jack F. Burdi Memorial Award. Each year, the honor is given to an eighth-grade student who exudes kindness, enthusiasm and generosity and is a model for others and a good community citizen. The award is bestowed by the American Legion, Bradford Turner Post No. 2654 of Garden City. Mr. Heineman received an American citizenship citation and an American Legion citizenship medal at the middle school moving up ceremony on May 1.
