Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem PO Hickey responded to a call from two male witnesses, one from New Hyde Park and one from Williston Park, at 1:19 AM on June 7. It seems they spotted an erratic driver and called police who eventually stopped a 20-year-old Garden City woman at Hathaway Drive. The motorist was arrested and charged with the failure to signal a turn, possession of an open alcoholic beverage, alleged DWI (.15%) and unlicensed operation...PO Bandl arrested a 26-year-old Maspeth woman for alleged DWI (.09%), and crossing yellow lines at Stewart Ave./Jackson Street, on June 8, 3:53 AM... PO Weir arrested a 34-year-old Greensboro, North Carolina man for alleged DWI (.19%) after his car hit 5 parked cars at Meadow Street on June 11...Between June 7 and 8, someone threw a rock at the wind shield of a 2000 Ford causing $250 in damage...Between June 8 and 9, a fence was knocked down at Pell Terrace... Between June 7 and 8, another fence was knocked down at Avalon Rd...Police officer Hickey arrested a 23-year-old East Northport woman for alleged DWI (.14%), and for no seatbelt, at Clinton Rd. on June 8 at 4 AM... The GC PD assisted the Nassau County Probation Department with a Nightwatch program, an initiative where persons on probation in certain jurisdictions were checked on June 1. A person on Tannerspond Rd. was arrested for the possession of fireworks. On the same day, a 48-year-old GC female resident and her 17-year-old son, were both arrested for the possession of cocaine at a Somerset Avenue residence. Also, a 47-year-old GC man was arrested at Harvard Street for the possession of cocaine, that same day...Between 1 AM and 2 AM, on June 8, someone stole a $400 Fendi handbag containing credit cards, bank checks, and a cell phone, at the Posh Club, at the GC Hotel... On June 10, 4:24 AM, PO Oswald arrested a 19-year-old Long Beach female for alleged DWI (.14%), and for the possession of numerous bags of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, including the failure to signal a lane change, and unsafe lane change, at Clinton Rd./Chestnut Street...A customer at Payhalf, on Franklin Avenue, left her pocketbook in a dressing room on June 7, and when she returned, the $175 in the bag was found missing... On June 7, 12:45 PM, PO Wedra observed a car passing through an RR crossing at Franklin Avenue/Seventh Street, and he arrested the motorist, a 21-year-old Hempstead man, for the possession of marijuana... On June 7, 2:35 AM, a 19-year-old West Hempstead man, was arrested for alleged DWI( .12%), and no insurance, at Rockaway Ave./South... PO Hickey arrested a 39-year-old West Hempstead man whom he caught going through cars parked at Second Street on June 6, 3:31 AM. The man was charged with trespassing, attempted larceny, and has a record of past larcenies... On June 5, PO Sansone and Detective Barone responded to an investigation at Lord and Taylor, Franklin Avenue. They determined that a 55-year-old Inwood woman had allegedly returned several items to the store and had received $973 in credit for them; however, they were not bought at Lord and Taylor! She was arrested for petit larceny... Fire Responses: Power was out at a Garfield St. residence on June 8...A brush fire occurred at Washington Avenue/LIRR on the same day...FD shut down a barbecue at Greenridge Avenue on June 9... A pot left on a range caused a fire at a Roosevelt Street house on June 10. Occupants used a chemical extinguisher prior to FD arrival. Firemen followed up by using a water extinguisher...375 gallons of water were used to put out a car fire at South Denton Avenue on June 11...A water leak occurred at Tremont Street on June 11 and the FD contacted the Water Dept...Lightning struck a house at Jackson Street on June 11 and the FD used a water can to wet down the attic area that had shown signs of possible charring.
