Shannon Callahan won the opening draw and passed to Annie Blanco who fed Katie O'Neil who fired a shot in the upper corner and GC led 1-0 in the first 30 seconds. Winning the draw again Shannon executed a great give and go with Kayla Walczyk and Shannon bounced one in to go up 2-0. After a successful draw (5 for 5), Annie took possession and fed Brianne Griffith who dodged past 2 defenders and scored to increase the lead to 3-0 GC. The relentless attack continued when Katie O'Neil took a pass from Annie and raced 40 yards past three defenders and scored to put GC up 4-0 in the first 5 minutes of play. The good sportsmanship rule came into effect and it was time for the girls to focus on defense. The group of Molly Adams, Maddy McGuire, Maggie Rogers, Paige Lopez, and Helena Arellano played fantastic. Goalie Kristen Noonan made two great saves in the 1st quarter and held them scoreless till 2 minutes to play in the first. Casey Cullen answered right back with an unassisted goal off a free position. The attack of Kristen Fitzsimons (5 ground balls/5 caught passes), Casey, Kayla, Zoë Karikas, and Jackie Marino moved the ball great, which led to Kayla going to the goal strong with under 30 seconds in the quarter and scoring to give GC a 6-1 first quarter lead.

Kristen Noonan remained hot in the 2nd quarter as she recorded 3 more saves and kept Northport off the score board. Garden City led 6-1 at halftime.
Northport opened the 3rd quarter with a quick goal but then the defense and 2nd half goalie Lauren Garizio would shut them down. Lauren made saves on Northport's next two possessions. Hannah Eilbeck came up with a great ground ball and passed to Shannon who fed Annie Blanco, Annie beat three defenders to score for GC. The 3rd quarter ended 7-2 GC.
The 4th quarter saw great defense, goalie play, and very good offensive movement. Lauren would make 4 point blank saves and the defense would shut out Northport for the entire quarter. Shannon would score first, her 2nd goal of the day, well deserved after being all over the field and leading the team with 10!! ground ball pickups. The very unselfish Kristen Noonan (first half goalie) scored next her first goal of the year. Annie assisted, 4th on day. Then Jackie Marino who played spectacular all day long, scored on a nice pass from Maddy McGuire. Kristen Noonan would score her second goal late in the 4th on an excellent pass from Stacey Madelmayer. Garden City won 11-2 and all the girls continue to improve greatly. The team welcomed back Helen who has been out with a broken wrist.
