Robert J. Rohrbach

Robert J. Rohrbach, former treasurer and vice president of the Daily News, died on May 11th at his home in Garden City.

Mr. Rohrbach, a native of Flat River, Mo., graduated cum laude from Notre Dame with a degree in business and went on to work in accounting at the Chicago Tribune.

He later joined the Navy as a lieutenant commander and was posted to Corpus Christi, Texas, where he met and married Jeanne Currie.

Mr. Rohrbach moved to Garden City in 1952 to work as an assistant controller for The News. He was later promoted to controller and then treasurer and vice president, positions he held until his retirement.

Mr. Rohrbach is survived by his wife; a son, Robert J. Rohrbach of Houston; a daughter, Patricia Thomas of Salt Lake City, and five grandchildren.
