At the Easter Vigil Mass, on Holy Saturday evening, the Journey to Adulthood (J2A) group of The Cathedral of the Incarnation received the sacrament of Confirmation. This group of young people has grown especially close as they prepared to receive this rite. They participated in a retreat on the eastern end of Long Island. The J2A did mission work in Navajo Land. Kids Care, which is the youth's outreach program to the foster care children of Nassau County, was founded by this confirmation class.
The mentors for the confirmands were RuthAnn Collins, Elizabeth Salvaterra, Charles Janoff, Richard Stelle and Father Joseph Pae.
Besides all the acts of worship and charity, the group also enjoyed some bonding activities including a beach party, trips to the city, a fishing trip, a high tea and much more. The members of the J2A are also involved in many other Cathedral organizations including the choir and altar guild. At the end of the confirmation service, the group grabbed each others' hands and knew in that moment that nothing could break the bond they have established.
