Village Sports The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce the opening of Community Park's new Mini Golf Course on Friday, June 1 st. Due to some safety concerns with the nearby softball fields, the course will be open during the hours listed below until the safety fencing is installed. Until further notice, the hours will be: Friday, June 1noon to 10 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays after June 1 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The fees have been set for residents and non-residents: $3 for residents seniors and children under 12: $5 for residents over 12; $4 for non-resident children under 12 and $6 for non-residents over 12. dance showcase tickets now on sale The Garden City Recreation's Dance Conservatory will hold its Annual Student Showcase on Friday, June 15 th at 7:30 pm at the Herricks Community Center. The company, under the direction of Felicia Lovaglio, has been rehearsing non stop to show off their talents in tap, jazz, modern, and hiphop. summer yoga for adults Our summer session of yoga will begin the week of June 4 th. Connie McKnight, our certified yoga instructor, has designed classes with all ages in mind. Each 12 week course will cost $60 and each class is 55 minutes long. All classes are held in Cluett Hall at St. Paul's. Any resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City is invited to join these relaxing classes. summer lacrosse camp The Recreation Department will offer a Lacrosse Camp for Boys and Girls entering 3 rd-6th grades in September, 2007. The program will teach participants the stick handling, catching, scooping and the fundamentals of the game. The children will also play games in a structured setting. No previous lacrosse experience is necessary. The program is conducted by Wally Cook, certified lacrosse referee and coach, on the fields at Stewart Field. The camp will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon each day. summer soccer camp The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting a Youth Soccer Camp for boys and girls who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City during the weeks of July 30 through August 2, and August 6 through 9, 2007 at Community Park (behind the pool). This instructional program will be offered for boys and girls Ages 6 through 12. Youngsters MUST be six by the start of the camp AND entering first grade in September 2007 in order to register for this camp. proof of age will be required. The Two Hour Session will run from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., at a cost of $60 and will focus on individual skill development. The five hour session will run from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at a cost of $125. The five hour session will include an hour lunch break and swim session supervised by the Soccer Camp Staff, to be followed by full field games. summer basketball camp The Garden City recreation department will be conducting a Youth Basketball Camp for boys and girls who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City from June 25 to June 28. This camp will be held in the St. Paul's Field House under the direction of Pat Kennedy. An instructional camp will be offered for boys and girls entering GRADES 3 & 4 in September, 2007 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and a session for boys and girls entering GRADES 5 & 6 in September, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be a limit of 50 children for each session. The purpose of this program is to provide instruction in self improvement, basketball fundamentals, team play, group cooperation, and, most important of all, FUN! roller hockey summer camp The Garden City Recreation Department is offering a summer Roller Hockey Camp this year at the Community Park's Roller Hockey Rinks. The camp will be a combination of skill driven activities and pick up games. This camp is open to any village resident between the ages of 5-10. All participants are required to supply their own equipment. summer roller hockey program for ages 11 - adult The Recreation Department is offering a summer Roller Hockey Program for residents of the village ages 11-14 and adults ages 30 and over. This program consists of pickup games and will be held at the Community Park Hockey Rinks. Village of Garden City. The lessons will be held at the Garden City Community Park tennis facility and will run one evening a week. There will be a maximum of four players on a court. Village of Garden City, age 18 or older, who would like to play softball in one of the Recreation Department's softball leagues, call the Recreation Office at 465-4075 to put your name on our "player list." We sometimes have coaches who are looking for extra players to round out their rosters. Call and leave your name, age, address, and phone number and we will keep your information on file for the team who is looking for players.

noon time concert on seventh street Come join the Recreation Department on Friday, June 15 th at noon for a lunchtime concert on Seventh Street. The TerryNova Little Big Band, will entertain us with the great sounds of today or yesteryear. The concert will take place in the plaza in front of Chico's and You-nique Bow-tique. Bring a lunch and enjoy the music.
