Garden City Retired Mens Club

The Garden City Retired Men's Club is a non-profit membership organization formed in April 1961 for the purpose of providing educational and recreational activities for the retired male senior citizens of the Garden City community. The organization is non-sectarian and non-political.

All retired men 55 years or older residing in the Incorporated Village of Garden City, in the State of New York, are eligible for membership upon paying a five (5) dollar initiation fee. If you are eligible and interested in joining us, please come by. Every Monday is Open House. Or call Joe Leto 248-9022.

The Club House facility is located at No. 6 Golf Club Lane (directly behind Lord & Taylor parking lot). The building is open every day of the week, except Friday, and offers two regulation size pool tables, television, cards/tables and board games, as well as outdoor bocce, horseshoes and shuffleboard. Our Programs Committee is playing a very active speaker program. Come join us!!!

Monday June 18 th Bob Schoelle, Village Administrator and Treasurer of Garden City, will speak to our group on the administrative affairs of Garden City and how they relate to us. This promises to be one of the most interesting discussions we will offer. Be assured there will be a subject for everyone. Non-member male residents are invited.

Atlantic City Trips To Trump Casino

The next trip will be Monday June 25 th. A brief two month hiatus will follow and we will resume in September. Call Ed Palkot 437-0397 to make the necessary arrangements. Non-member residents of Garden City are invited.

Exercise Time

Our exercise program is a little more than halfway through our first eight week segment. The boys are bending lower, stretching further and breathing better. With three more classes to go, there is still time to join us. The next class will be held on Tuesday May 29 th at 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Golf Club Lane Center. The June 12 th class will conclude this session. After a brief summer break, we will resume in September. You can still join us for the last three classes at the prorated rate. If you have a desire to keep yourself in shape, or bring yourself to a better shape, come join the group. Under the watchful eye and tutelage of our charming instructress, you will feel better, stretch better and breath better. Non-member male Garden City residents are invited.

On Thursday June 14 th Birthday/Cookout Party is shaping up nicely. We are getting a good response from our birthday celebrants and we look forward to a pleasant afternoon. We also invite any Garden City male resident non-member of the Retired Men's Club, who will celebrate his 85, 90 or 95 th birthday, to join us as our guest . Non-members should call Joe Leto at 248-9022 to make the necessary arrangements.

The bocce and horseshore courts are ready and begging for action. Tournament sign up sheets will be posted May 31 st on the bulletin board. Matches will be scheduled after we determine how many teams sign up. In the meantime, any day is practice time. Remember the key to succes is practice, practice and more practice.

In the offing and ready to POP ... Monday/Tuesday afternoon poker... Member/member Bocce, Shuffleboard, Horseshoes, additional interesting speakers and our annual Co-Ed party coming july 15 th... Stay turned.
