Tribute To The Beatles

The Mersey Beat Band will present "A Tribute To The Beatles" at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the Garden City Public Library. This free public program is funded by The Friends of the Garden City Public Library. You are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Garden City Public Library which will be followed by the concert.

Seating and parking is limited and on a first-come first-served basis. No tickets are required. The library is located at 60 Seventh Street, Garden City, NY. For directions phone (516) 742-8405.

Hear an exciting sound of the legendary Beatle vocal harmonies by John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Re-live the 60's - feel like you have returned to the time of the "British Invasion!" Sing along to your favorite tunes. Great fun for all ages!

Mersey Beat has entertained thousands at libraries and town functions across Long Island since 1985. Members are seasoned musicians. They have performed on national and international radio and television, and have been featured in many regional newspapers.

Lunch Bag Book Talk

Thursday June 14th 12:00-2:00

The Camel Bookmobile will be the book of choice for the final LunchBag BookTalk of the Spring. It will take place on Thursday, June 14th 12:00 to 2:00PM. Evocative, seamless, and haunting, The Camel Bookmobile is a powerful saga that challenges our fears of the unknown. It is a story that captures the riddles and calamities that often occur when two cultures collide. It follows an American librarian who travels to Africa to give meaning to her life, and ultimately loses a piece of her heart. In the end, this compelling novel shows how one life can change many, in spite of dangerous and seemingly immutable obstacles. Registration begins Tuesday, May 22nd . "Floral Paintings" Art Exhibition

Artist Al Fishman of Plainview will exhibit his solo show "Floral Paintings" in the Garden City Public Library's Gallery June 1-30, 2007. View small scale acrylic paintings on water color board created by this Parson School of Design graduate. The body of work reflects vivid colors with sharp contracts. Mr. Fishman has maintained studios in Manhattan and Long Island for 45 years as a free-lance artist.

Showcase Display

"Spanish American War Mementos"

View "Spanish American War Mementos" exhibited in the Garden City Public Library's showcases from June 1-29, 2007. A Garden City resident will loan his unique collection of candy dishes in the shape of battleships. The battleship Maine will be included.

Exhibit is FREE and open to the public during regular library hours. for hours and direction phone (516) 742-8405. The library is located at 60 Seventh Street, Garden City, NY. Funding for gallery and showcase exhibits is provided by The Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Installation and removal dates are subject to change.
