Community Club Ends Season

Julie Fehler, left, out-going president, handed over the gavel to her successor, Marye Heston.
Art, music and glorious spring weather added up to a beautiful afternoon for members of The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead as they gathered in the Garden City Casino on May 2nd for the last general meeting of the season.

Upon entering the building, members saw a stunning display of artwork created by members throughout the year beautifully displayed among floral plants arranged by Muriel Urban. Then President Julie Fehler called the meeting to order and reviewed the events of the past year. At the conclusion of her speech, she handed the gavel to incoming President Marye Heston.

Then Ruth Collins, general program chairperson, introduced Mr. David Ramael, assistant professor of music at Hofstra and faculty advisor to the Hofstra Woodwind Quintet. He, in turn, introduced players Jennifer Reinfurt, Cara Iannicello, Jerry Clark, Jerry Clark, Erin Toscano and Molly Titler, who then presented a program of a dozen compositions which spanned 400 years of music from the Baroque period to the present day.
