On May 29 , PO Jacobsen arrested a 40-year-old Franklin Square man for leaving two 1-year-old babies alone in a car parked in Field 11 without water or air on a hot day. The children had been in the car for about 45 minutes before being rescued. The man, the father of the children, was arrested on two counts of endangering the welfare of children... On May 27 , a 52-year-old Bayside woman allegedly took Hanes intimates, a Chanel gift set, Clinique Prescriptives, Kate Hill tops and a Ralph Lauren shirt at over $540, at Lord and Taylor, Franklin Avenue... Someone stole a $300 cell phone from a car parked in a driveway at Brook Street on May 27... On May 22 , police arrested a security employee, a 23-year-old Westbury man, who had allegedly taken $260 from registers at Sears over the past two months... On May 24 , a 35-year-old Flushing woman, allegedly stole an Anne Kein top and a Context top valued at over $100 at Lord & Taylor... PO Hennessy arrested a 25-year-old Hempstead man at Clinton Rd. for aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree... On May 27 , 2:30 AM, PO Hickey arrested a 26-year-old NYC man for alleged speeding at 45 in a 30 mph zone, DWAI (.07%), and no lights, at NHP RD... PO Oswald arrested a 21-year-old Lawrence man for alleged DWI (.15%), alleged speeding at 50 in a 30- mph zone, and numerous VTLs on Franklin Avenue, on May 27... On May 28 , a 24-year-old GC woman was alleged DWI (.10%) at Nassau Blvd...On May 23, a truck stop was conducted at NHP Rd. and 12 trucks were inspected with 11 taken out of service, 90 tickets issued, with 21 weight violations... A burglary occurrred between the hours of 11:55 PM and 12:35 PM at a Third Street residence on May 23. Over $13,000 in jewelry was taken... Beginnning on May 22, police have conducted checkpoints for Buckle Up NY, a program to encourage compliance with seat belt laws and to make the roads safer. 57 tickets were issued...
