On Monday May 21st the Garden City boys varsity lacrosse team traveled to the United States Merchant Marine Academy to play a Nassau Class B quarterfinal game against the Hewlett Bulldogs.

Head coach Steve Finnell must have had an incredible halftime speech for the team as they came out fired up and ready to play at the start of the third quarter. Dean Gibbons took control and scored five of his seven goals in a 7-2 third quarter to lift the Trojans to a 14-11 win over Hewlett.

It was during the third quarter that Garden City took the lead for good after Gibbons scored giving the Trojans an 8-7 lead. Hewlett finished it's season 13-4, Garden City is 16-2 overall and advanced to the semifinals against Carey which was played on Thursday May 24th, but too late to make this edition of the paper.
