Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

Between May 15 and 16, a $400 Trek mountain bike was stolen from a detached garage at Garden Street... PO Hennessy arrested a 27-year-old Brentwood man for alleged DWI (.14%), alleged speeding at 55 in a 30 mph zone, unlicensed operation, and for crossing lane markings at Clinton Rd. on May 19... PO Hudak arrested a 26-year-old Syosset man for aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree ( 5 suspensions, 6 dates) on May 19... Between May 19 and 20, someone damaged the rear door at a NHP Rd. residence and after entering the premises, stole $300 U.S., over $3,000 in assorted jewelry, a camcorder and an IPOD. Damage to the door was $400... Burglars entered a Chestnut St. house on May 15, and stole $2,000 in jewelry... Two credit cards were taken from an office at GC Plaza on May 17... PO Oswald and Sergeant Pedersen arrested a 26-year-old Hempstead man after he fled on foot after having crashed his car into a parked car in Hempstead on May 19. The incident began in Garden City where the motorist had failed to signal a right turn onto Stewart Avenue from Clinton Rd, and when approached by police at that point, e had fled the scene in his car. He was charged with DWI, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, aggravated unlicensed operation, the failure to signal, unsafe lane change, leaving the scene of an accident, and unlicensed operation. PO Oswald had a back injury as a result and Sergeant Pedersen suffered a laceration on his arm; both were taken to Winthrop Hospital... Between May 19 and 20, someone damaged the window of a 2003 Ford Mustang and stole an IPOD and a GPS system... Someone attempted to pry open a rear window at a Chester Avenue residence between May 13 and 21; there were marks but no entry was made...

Between May 20 and 21, 2 iron antique outdoor chairs were stolen a Sixth Street residence. Value was $1,000... PO Dallolio and PO Sansone arrested a 28-year-old Island Park man for allegedly stealing 24 half gallons of milk and a case of Dannon yogurt from the rear of Bagelman, Franklin Avenue, on May 22 at 4 AM. The thief had pushed a cart with these items all the way into Hempstead that night and Hempstead police helped with the arrest... Police conducted a Probation stop at County Seat Drive on May 16. A MADD Victim Impact Panel was meeting there and persons either ordered by the court or as part of probation were required to be there. There were 14 arrests; 12 vehicle impounds; 11 aggravated unlicensed operation; 3 for no license...

Fire Responses:

On May 17 , FD removed a victim from a stalled elevator at Hilton Avenue... On May 18 , firemen mitigated a spill from a multi-car accident at Nassau Blvd... There was an unintentional activation due to smoke from cooking at a Roderick Lane house on May 19... A dryer with lint that had built up inside it, caused alarm at a Meadow Street house on May 21.
