Community Church To Commemorate Memorial Day

On the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, May 27, Garden City Community Church will have a special guest preacher, Naval Chaplain Lieutenant Commander Kobena Arthur. Our 10:30 worship service for that day will be specially designed to appreciate those men and women in the armed forces and especially to remember and honor loved ones lost to the scourge of war. This service will also feature the playing of "Taps" with the story of its origin, as well as the singing of "You'll Never Walk Alone," the Rogers and Hammerstein song which has gained special meaning for those who have loved ones serving in the armed forces.

Please plan to join us for what promises to be a very wonderful and meaningful service. Special thanks to our Church member Arthur Hug, who made arrangements for Commander Arthur to be our preacher and helped design most of our service for that day.

Garden City Community Church is part of the United Church of Christ. Worship services are Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with church school for children and a crib room for infants and toddlers at the later service. Garden City Community Church is located at Stewart Avenue and Whitehall Blvd. For more information, call 746-1700 or visit our website at www.gardencitycommunitychurch.org.
