Traditional Cathedral Memorial Day Fair Once again this year, following the Memorial Day Parade and the subsequent Memorial Day Service at the Garden City Middle School, the Cathedral's Memorial Day Fair will take place. The Fair has become a Memorial Day tradition for many Garden City residents. The Fair will take place on the grounds of the Cathedral of the Incarnation at 50 Cathedral Avenue, Garden City. As in the past, there will be fun and food for all ages. The kids love the pony rides and petting zoo and the goldfish booth as well as the space walk and the dunking booth. The grown-ups enjoy watching the children have fun and shopping at the Crafts Fair. This year the vendors include artists Arlene Urban and Pat DiComo, sand painter Paula Sherson and country and primitive arts craftsman Paul Copobanco. Delicious scone mixes, jams and bracelets and bears will be offered by Juliana Wesolek. Margolis will bring beautiful saris to sell. Jewelry vendors exhibiting all different styles will have their wares for sale. Some of these jewelry vendors include Mary Boccia, Marie Campo, Barbara Weinreb, and Marie Prakash. Everyone enjoys the food booth's yummy preparations. In addition, there will be a free concert of patriotic hymns and songs offered in the Cathedral at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Mr. Larry Tremsky, organist and choirmaster, will play the Cathedral's magnificent Casavant pipe organ and the concert will end in an Americana sing along. So plan to come out and have a wonderful day at a good old fashioned Family Fair. Bring the children and the grandchildren and build family holiday memories.
