Two nationally ranked boys varsity high school lacrosse teams met on Saturday May 12th, as the John Jay Indians traveled to Garden City to face the Trojans in a non-league game. Going into this game, John Jay had won 13 in a row but had never won a game on Long Island (their only loss this season came against Huntington). By halftime the Trojans were up 6-3 but in the third quarter John Jay closed the gap with one goal, making it 6-4.

Later, in the fourth quarter, the Indians Chris Bocklet scored two goals to tie the game 6-6 and send it into overtime. With two minutes left in OT, Garden City's Dean Gibbons (who had three goals in the game) fed the ball to teammate Dillon Dwyer who scored his second goal of the game and gave the Trojans a thrilling 7-6 victory. Francis McDonough also scored two goals for the Trojans. GC goalie Brian McCullough was kept busy making 19 saves. Garden City extended it's record to 14-2 with this win and will begin the playoffs with a game this afternoon at 4:30 pm at GCHS.
